Stan Hywet Grounds Are Open For the Season as its Gardens Are Honored on a USPS Stamp

Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens IS open for the season. Well, not exactly. The gardens and grounds are open for limited hours. However, the buildings are not open as yet.

You can check out the beautiful outdoor setting in person — or on a new stamp just issued by the U.S. Post Office, part of its series on American Gardens. Ten different stamps feature small areas of ten different iconic American gardens, including Stan Hywet’s in Akron.

“The love of gardening stretches back to the earliest years of our country,” says the USPS. “Conceived for many reasons — for food or pleasure, as places of education and scientific study, as an expression of the owners’ artistic sensibilities, as spaces for the public to commune with nature — American gardens capture our imagination and satisfy a yearning for beauty and order.”

You can purchase the stamps here.

You can visit Stan Hywet Wednesday through Sunday, 8:30-10am for seniors, 10am-3pm for guest of all ages. All buildings are closed and no restrooms are available. They are limiting capacity and asking visitors to practice social distancing.
