Oberlin Stage Left Series Shares 2018 Immersive Music Event

Thu 5/21 @ 7:30PM

As the spring semester limps to an end at colleges and universities around the country, Oberlin Conservatory has opted to celebrate the intense musical synergy that energizes the campus in normal times. Its Stage Left online series will feature a fall 2018 surround-sound “prism concert” that took place in and around the campus’ Finney Chapel, with what’s described as a “nonstop wave of sound” enveloped the venue: “opera in the organ loft and jazz in the rafters, a cappella singers emerging from the audience and brass musicians perched in the balcony.”

Oberlin College president Carmen Twillie Ambar, dean of the College of arts and Sceinces David Kamitsuka and dean of Oberlin Conservatory Bill Quillen will introduce the program which features previously unseen footage.
