Although Cleveland has not been as kind to its built history as many other cities, its downtown still contains many layers of its past. Its central corridor, Euclid Avenue, from Public Square to Playhouse Square, has seen many buildings torn down but, especially recently, many others restored and repurposed so that their history can still be read.

That’s the topic of the Downtown Highlights walking tour, which returned this week. Although Tours of Cleveland isn’t yet bringing back its Cleveland From the Inside tour, which requires going into some buildings that aren’t yet open to the public, it’s brought back its two-hour stroll down Euclid, includes walks inside the Arcade and the former Cleveland Trust Company Building, as the tour guide shares the past and present uses of the buildings lining the street and the famous residents who once walked there.

It’s booking tour seven days a week, including twice on Saturday, reduced group sizes for social distancing purposes and is strongly encouraged masks — a respectful gesture to others. Make your reservation here.
