DANCECleveland’s Community Dance Day Goes Virtual, Some 2020-2021 Performances Postponed

Due to the pandemic, DANCECleveland has announced some cancellations and postponements in its 2020-2021 schedule of performances at Playhouse Square, as well as its turning its American Dance Festival in Cleveland into a virtual event.

The Community Dance Day, scheduled this year for Saturday July 25, normally involves a day of activities in and around the Playhouse Square theaters, such as the youth dance class on East 14th Street last year, pictured above. This year, there’ll be a series of talks, performances, virtual dance classes and more, with the full schedule to be posted on DANCECleveland’s website in June.

Meanwhile, the July 26 performance by Alonzo King LINES Ballet has been canceled, as have the November 5 & 6 performance by MOMIX, co-presented by Tri-C Performing Arts at Playhouse Square, with plans to reschedule the latter in 2021. Tickets for both will be refunded.

The appearance of tap dancer Caleb Teicher & pianist Conrad Tao is postponed to March 13, 2021, also at Playhouse Square. DANCECleveland’s and the University of Akron’s presentation of the ensemble BODYTRAFFIC at E.J. Thomas Hall October 3 is up in the air, with a final decision to be released later.
