Yes, we’re all tied of staying in, watching TV, having Zoom meetings and socials, reading, and making our own meals. Even if you’re a great cook you may be getting tired of your own cooking right now, and if you’re not, you may be desperate for a life line. So ring up one of the locally owned eateries that’s stayed open for carryout and order something special. Maybe pick one special night each week to try a different spot, maybe one you never went to before the shutdown.
Cleveland Independents is a membership organization is composed of locally owned, chef-driven establishments you may have read about and made a mental note to visit some day. Now’s the day. Their website has a handy list of which members are open for takeout and which deliver. Their offerings cover all of northeast Ohio and range from Luna Café’s crepes to Nora’s nouveau Italian and Bruno’s traditional Italian, to Cafe Tandoor’s Indian and Batuqui’s Brasilian flavors, and Melt Bar and Grilled’s grilled cheese creations (and more!) Mny also offer wine and beer to go. There are some four dozen restaurants in all who have food available, although some of the menus may be more limited than when they are open.

Additionally, many Clevelanders will be excited to learn that longtime Coventry Village favorite Tommy’s, which has been closed since March 16, will reopen on May 4 from noon-7pm for pickup orders made and paid for online or by phone. So if you’ve been craving one of their legendary milkshakes, start counting down the days!
