Easter Services May Be Cancelled But Easter Chocolates Aren’t!

Well, so much for the Easter baskets for the kids. Grandma isn’t coming over this year armed with chocolate eggs and bunnies.

But wait! Cleveland’s boutique chocolatiers are actually pumping out these seasonal treats, and if grandma can’t stop by for dinner herself, she can still buy the sweets and have them sent.

Mitchell’s Fine Chocolates, the legacy chocolate shop in Cleveland Heights (founded in 1959, and now under only its second ownership after the son of the founder sold it four years ago), is packed with specialty chocolates of all kinds including bunnies in various sizes, Easter egg malted milk balls, foil-wrapped eggs and jellybeans. If you’re in Cleveland Heights, they will even deliver for free. Or just stop in if you’re itching to get out of the house and look around at the full (and huge) selection of treats. They’re open noon-8pm, Monday through Saturday, the shop is spacious and never crowded, and you can soak in the vibe of an old-fashioned chocolate emporium.

If you’re on the other side of town, Lakewood’s Sweet Designs Chocolatier is also open for Easter business. They’ve got boxed assortments up to 60 (!) pieces that will really cheer up the housebound — don’t eat them all at once! — along with bunnies, chocolate crosses, boxes of chocolate bunny ears, peanut butter eggs, foil-wrapped chocolate carrots, and pre-assembled baskets containing an assortment of candies. They’ve got vegan chocolate assortments too. They offer curbside pickup but have suspended shipping because of overwhelming demand. They say they’re a little backlogged sending out order but you can stop in 10am-7pm Monday through Friday, and 10am-6pm Saturday.
