Tri-C JazzFest has already cancelled its April 27-30 Jazz Education Days. JazzFest itself, scheduled for June 25-27 at Playhouse Square is, like many things, up in the air.

“Every day we are receiving news of cancellations and postponements, and we are aware that our fans are wondering if Tri-C JazzFest will happen in June,” they tell us. “We plan to make an informed decision over the next two weeks and promise that you, the fans of this music and our valued stakeholders, know the minute the decision is made.”

But just in case JazzFest goes on, the deadline for local artists to play on he big outdoor stage under the chandelier has been extended through April 1. Apply here.

Meanwhile, you can head over to Tri-C’s YouTube channel to watch episodes of its Tommy Talks series, named after benefactor of the Tri-C Gill and Tommy LiPuma Center for Creative Arts, the legendary producer Tommy LiPuma, who passed away in 2017.

Each one features Tri-C students and alumni, as well as friends of LiPuma, talking about their Tri-C experience. Here’s one that features Tri-C Recording Arts and Technology graduate, Russell Carter.

Here’s the Tri-C JazzFest channel with more editions of Tommy Talks and other goodies.
