Maryland Ensemble Brings Back Music of the Silent Film Era

UPDATE:

This event has been cancelled.

Sun 3/15 @ 3-5PM

The Peacherine Ragtime Society Orchestra was formed by Andrew Greene at the University of Maryland in 2010 to recreate the ragtime jazz and popular music of the first couple of decades of the 20th century, including concert, theater and dance music, and music to accompany classic silent films. Greene’s personal collection includes more than 15,000 selections of such music covering years from 1862-1930, and PRSO’s collection includes more than 400 silent film scores.

They’ll be trotting out some of that music when they play in Cleveland at the Maltz Performing Arts Center. Their performance will accompany the 1928 Laurel & Hardy film Habeas Corpus, Chaplin Chaplin’s 1916 The Rink, and Buster Keaton’s One Week (1920).

Tickets are $12-$32.
