MANSFIELD: Hail to the Commander-In-Chief

Or should it really be “Hell to the Commander-In-Thief?” While tRump was slow out of the starting blocks on this worldwide health crisis, he’s now trying to make up ground by engaging in racist rhetoric while putting his own juvenile spin on the facts. The mind-boggling thing is his core supporters go along with his nonsense and believe any off-the-wall rumor his team puts out there.

But the one thing that the enemies of truth are not going to be able to do is rewrite the history books, and tRump’s six-week delay in addressing the coronavirus in an intelligent manner by initially dismissing it as a Democratic hoax — until it turned into a full-blown pandemic — is something that he is going to be held accountable for sooner rather than later. Currently the lines of people waiting to be tested are snaking around the blocks of testing facilities and hundreds, if not thousands, might die needlessly simply because we have a fool in the White House who attempts to make up his own facts.

Rumor has it that tRump actually said, “People are dying that have never died before,” and while confirming if those words came out of his mouth might be difficult to do at the moment, it’s not at all difficult to believe he would say something so asinine based on the other lies he consistently tells. He truly is dense and he holds the intellect of the American public in low esteem.

His latest tactic is to begin calling the pandemic “the Chinese virus” so that the conversation can be weaponized. He knows how warlike some Americans are so now he’s attempting to turn a virus that can’t be seen without a microscope into a full-blown, palpable “enemy” that can be identified and focused on. He knows that if he characterizes this as a “war” then he can more easily make the case that he should be reelected since we’ve never changed presidents in a time of war.

Indeed, he’s taking to calling himself a “war time president,” in spite of the fact that when there was a real war for him to fight in, he got out of it with spurious “bone spurs” (sorry, I simply couldn’t resist the alliteration). The real fear is that he’ll move to cancel the upcoming presidential election in the name of a “public emergency.” tRump sets the American house on fire via his ignorance and negligence in the face of this crisis and then wants to appear to be the hero by rushing in to save the day; but the fact is, he’s actually a verbal pyromaniac.
