Help Improve the Happiness of Bluebirds

Sat 3/14 @ 10-11AM

The beautiful bluebird is a symbol of happiness and hope in many cultures. That’s why there’s a classic pop tune from 1934 called “Bluebird of Happiness,” written for tenor Jan Peerce, who recorded several versions of it and had a a huge hit with it in the mid 40s.

But how can you make bluebirds happy? How about providing them with a nesting box just as their reproductive season begin? Geauga Park District naturalist Tami Gingrich has led the district’s bluebird box program for three decades, and she’s ready to show interested people what she knows.

At her presentation at the West Wood Nature Center, she’ll talk about things like where to put your box, which way it should face, and how to keep predators away. She’ll also share some background on the birds and let you know how to monitor your box to make sure your bluebirds are happy, healthy and safe.

It’s free and registration isn’t required.
