Film Submissions Sought for Kent Environmental Film Fest

Fri 4/17 @ 6-9PM

For the time being, Standing Rock Cultural Arts’ 14th annual Who’s Your Mama environmental film festival is scheduled for Fri 4/17 at Kent State University’s KIVA Auditorium. It’s part of the Portage County Earth Day celebration, which also features the Who’s Your Mama Earth Day block party in downtown Kent, currently scheduled for Sat 4/18.

Obviously, given the rapidly changing landscape, that date could be pushed back, but it’s almost certain the festival will proceed. So if you are an independent filmmaker who has made a video or short film about an environmentally related issue, go ahead and submit it now

The film should be less than 10 minutes, and submitted on USB drive, mini DV or DVD. Deadline for submission is Sat 3/28. All films screened will be eligible to compete for a $100 peoples’ choice award cash prize.

Find the application at standingrock.net.

Films should be submitted to Standing Rock Cultural Arts, 300 North Water Street, Kent, Ohio 44240 or emailed to info@standingrock.net.

Kent, OH 44240

Is the film festival scheduled for April 7 or 17th? The event website says 4/7 and 4/20 but the post in Cool Cleveland says the films are on 4/17. Please clarify so I can pass along info on the event accurately. I realize that C-19 might pre-empt the whole thing but at least we will know when to save the date and where to stay tuned on line.

At this point, things are changing so rapidly they may have changed the date several times. but it’s unlikely it will happen in April. Stay tuned.
