Stax Legend Booker T. Jones Speaks at the Rock Hall

Wed 2/19 @ 7-9PM

Multi-instrumentalist/songwriter/producer Booker T. Jones Jr. launched his noted soul ensemble Booker T. and the MGs in the early 60s, and they quickly became legendary as the backbone of the Stax/Memphis sound. They backed artists such as Otis Redding, Albert King, Wilson Pickett, Rufus Thomas and Sam & Dave among hundreds of lesser-known others. They even had some instrumental hits of their own: 1962’s “Green Onions,” “Hang Em High” in 1968 and “Time Is Tight” in 1969.

The group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992; Jones put out his memoir Time Is Tight: My Life Note by Note last year. Now he’s coming to the Rock Hall to sit down for an interview with the Rock Hall’s VP of education Jason Hanley, and a book signing afterwards.

Tickets are $15.
