BAYarts opens new shows in both its galleries this week.
Max Markwald: Skin goes on view in the Sullivan Family Gallery. It features a series of self-portraits, one per month for a year, documenting Markwald’s gender transition. These paintings, or “obscured portraits,” capture the artist “hiding in full view.”
The candid travel photos of BAYarts staff member Nancy Mills comprise the show Wanderlust: Faces from Places in the Diane Bolden Education Gallery.
The shows open with a free public reception Fri 2/7 @ 7-9PM. They remain on view through Thu 3/6.
