New Plays Get Staged Readings on Waterloo

Mon 2/10 @ 7PM

Sat 2/15 @ 3PM

With its mission to encourage and develop new theatrical work by northeast Ohio authors, North Collinwood-based Playwrights Local presents plays at various stages of development, from first readings to fully staged productions, encouraging input to help shape successful finished pieces.

This month, its 2020 Play Lab is offering staged readings of two new works-in progress.

On Mon 2/10 it will present Mara Lynne’s This Is Not Ramona’s Fault, about a 16-year-old girl Ramona, 16, coping with loss and how it affects her family, friendships and her intimate life. Christine Burney directs the four-actor cast, with dramaturgy by Les Hunter.

On Sat 2/15 Oblatus, based on the life of 12th-century German abbess/composer Hildgarde, by Diane Lueptow gets an airing, directed by Caroline Jackson Smith and dramaturgy by Lenora Inez Brown.

The performances take place at the Creative Spade on Waterloo. Both are free and open to the public with no reservations necessary. They’re suitable for teens and older.
