Apollo’s Fire’s Rainbow Concerts Travel Around the World

Sat 2/29 @ 11AM

Sat 2/29 @ 3PM

Sun 3/1 @ 3PM

Cleveland’s baroque orchestra, Apollo’s Fire, has an active outreach program. One of its goals is to get ’em young and nurture an appreciation for a variety of music. To that end, AF’s artist-in-residence for outreach performances, soprano Amanda Powell, is leading a series of family concerts called “Rainbow Songs: Music of Our Brothers & Sisters Across the Planet.”

The concerts will feature music from Spain, Italy, Africa and Israel, with appropriate traditional instruments, some of which the audience will be able to try out during the “Instrument Petting Zoo” at the end of the concert. There’ll be sing-alongs and maybe even the chance to dance. And guests will be able to ask the musicians questions or comment on what they’ve heard at these interactive sessions.

Performances take place at Crocker Park’s Market Square indoor pavilion Sat 2/29 @ 11AM; at the Akron Art Museum Sat 2/29 @ 3pm; and at the Cleveland Museum of Art Recital Hall Sun 3/1 @ 3pm.

The concerts are free and open to all.
