African Drums Resound in Ohio City Church

Fri 2/7 @ 6:30PM

Stand outside on Church Avenue in Ohio City Friday night and you might hear the faint rhythms of drumming coming from inside the historic St. John’s Episcopal Church.

Or come inside and soak in the African drumming program, accompanied by poetry, dramatizations and a keynote address from county councilwoman Shontel Brown. The program, “The History of the Path to Freedom,” recalls an era in which St. John’s played a crucial part as a stop on the Underground Railroad, along which former slaves moved north to freedom in Canada.

There’s a free dinner to, although a $5 donation is requested. Space is limited so they’re requesting reservations at 216.781.2250 or Leslie at lburnside@frontstepsservices.org.
