Three Area Artists Are Showcased in “Nature Preserved” at Westlake’s Gallery W

Thu 1/16 @ 5-7PM

Gallery W, located at American Greetings’ headquarters in Westlake, has been hosting some impressive art shows well worth seeing in a space that’s kind of off the beaten track for the art crowd

Its next show is called Nature Preserved, and it showcases three artists whose inspiration from nature takes them in very different directions.

Eileen Dorsey’s vivid landscape paintings are well known to visitors at 78th Street Studios’ Third Friday, when he studio doors are always open so people can drop in and watch her at work. One of her favorite subjects is stands of wooded forest that move between representation and abstraction, realistic use of color and unreal colors that give them a fantasy quality.

Marc Petrovic and Kari Russell-Pool are a husband and wife, both graduates of the Cleveland Institute of Art, who do sculptural work based on glass. Russell-Pool creates intricate flower-adorned sculptural objects that resemble birdcages, vases and teapots, fashioned with colored glass rods in spring-like pastels and leafy greens. Petrovic also works with glass, combining it with other materials to create often cryptic pieces that refer to journeys and exploration.

The show will be on view through Thu 3/5.
