Sound and Vision

Make some noise Let your voice be heard.

Join the fun as David Bowie Month takes a three-day residency at the BOP STOP: Fri 1/10 on the artist’s complete life, a deep cuts benefit for The Music Settlement and BOP STOP on Sat 1/11 and a “Brunch With Bowie” on the artist’s later years on Sun 1/12 at noon. Don’t you wonder sometimes about sound and vision?

Indoors or out, our Cuyahoga Valley National Park has volunteer opportunities for you. The Akron Art Museum serenades you with Midwinter Blues and Other Tunes. The NARI Home Improvement show moves downtown and features Cleveland-area artists. The occupants of Worthington Yards apartments curate their latest art exhibit in their lobby. Apollo’s Fire cellist Rene Schiffer plays Bach Suites in Akron and Cleveland Heights. The Cleveland Print Room kicks off its seventh year with a pair of shows, Model Homes and American Playgrounds. And you can sample Akron-brewed beers inside and out at the Cottage Crawl.

One of the region’s strongest voices, CoolCleveland correspondent Mansfield Frazier, lets us in on the backstory behind the proposal to shrink the size of Cleveland City Council, and on the real reason the city may be hesitating to turn over the West Side Market to outside operators. That’s the sound a real citizen makes. What’s your vision? –Thomas Mulready
