Interplay of Fire & Ice Highlights Lake Farmpark’s Ice Festival

Sat 1/25 @ 9AM-9PM

Sun 1/26 @ 9AM-5PM

Winter weather has finally arrived, as it does virtually every year. So you might as well enjoy it. One place to do so is at Lake Metroparks Farmpark, which is holding its two-day Ice Festival this weekend.

Naturally ice itself is the centerpiece of the event. Saturday’s highpoint is a “fire and ice” display where a fire burns inside inside a six-foot tower of ice. Sunday will feature ice-carving demonstrations, while all weekend local ice carvers will face off in speed-carving demonstrations. And attendees can whiz down an ice slide or sit on an ice throne — undoubtedly great for photos.

The festival offers plenty of non-ice-related activities as well. You can meet winter animals, take part in an ice-cream making demo or hands-on milking, watch wood carvers at work, listen to live music, hang out around the fire pits and make s’mores, and meet Ice Princesses (Saturday only). Hot cocoa will be available, and the J&J Café will be open for meals.
