Family Program at Severance Hall Introduces Kids to Leonard Bernstein’s Music

Sun 2/2 @ 2PM

The exhibit, Leonard Bernstein: The Power of Music, arrived at the Maltz Museum September 25 and will be on view through March 1.

It’s spawned a lot of programming around the legendary conductor/composer, one of the best-known classical musicians of the 20th century, whose catalog also included such popular work as the music from West Side Story. He was known for his outreach to all audiences, including children for whom he did his Young People’s Concerts.

So it’s in keeping with his legacy that the Cleveland Orchestra is hosting a Bernstein Beat Family Concert, geared toward kids. Assistant conductor Vinay Parameswaran will lead the one-hour program, hosted by Bernstein’s daughter, Jamie Bernstein, which will undoubtedly include short selections of his most familiar work.

Tickets are $15-$30.
