Cellist Rene Schiffer is well known to local audiences, as he serves as Apollo’s Fire’s regular principal cellist. He’s particular known for his from-memory performances of the Bach cello suites, which he’s preparing to record in their entirety for an internationally released CD.
To prepare he’s doing a series of performances of the suites, which began this past fall. The upcoming “mini-concerts,” taking place on Sat 1/11 at First United Methodist in Akron and on Sun 1/12 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Cleveland Heights, are 60-70 minutes long and are followed by a Q&A where you can learn more about his passion for this music.
