BAYarts Presents Two Photo Shows Exploring Personal and Collective History

Fri 1/10 @ 7-9PM

To start the year off in its galleries, BAYarts is opening two January shows of photography, used to relate narratives about the past, both personal and public.

Emma Wolpert’s show, Finding My Home, Funding Myself, is deeply personal, a journey into her own roots that carried her thousands of miles on an almost unimaginable journey. She took these photos when she traveled back to the orphanage in Hauzhou, China where she was taken as a child after being abandoned at a bus station. Later she was adopted, brought to the U.S. and raised in Bay Village.

Christopher Kaspar, on the other hand, looks at our collective past in Someone’s Past. He seeks out photos from history (late 1800s-1970) that reflect on today’s social and political issues and makes large-scale analog images printed on metal sheets.

The shows open with a free, public reception Fri 1/10 @ 7-9pm. They’llbe on view through Sat 2/1.
