The real strength of northeast Ohio is not its sports teams — passive entertainment for the masses — but in its creative population, which produces theater, music, dance, film, literature, and visual arts to share with others, much of it at a grassroots level and some of it even participatory.
Ideastream’s Sound of Ideas is hosting a community tour, showcasing just a handful of this fountain of creativity at the Beachland Ballroom. Each will do a short presentation, followed by an interview with Michael McIntyre, host of The Sound of Ideas, with opportunity for audience comment and questions.
It kicks off at 6pm with rock band the Katys, followed by poet Kisha Nicole Foster, Korean papermaker Aimee Lee (work pictured), storyteller Dana Morris, choreographer Dominic Moore-Dunson with dancer Kevin Parker, and finally Uno Lady (Christa Ebert), a musician who creates her songs by processing her own voice as the only instrument.
Doors open at 5pm, and the general-admission, primarily seated show is free.
