Broken Ornaments Takes an Experimental Approach to Holiday Music at the BOP STOP

Tue 12/17 @ 8PM

For the last couple of years, the BOP STOP has hosted an event called Broken Ornaments: A Holiday Concert with an Impulse Towards Destruktion.

It’s put together by a pair of local musicians — sax player Dan Wenninger and guitarist Mike Sopko — who rounded up some of their similarly minded musicians who play experimental improvisational music to tackle holiday standards in the style of groundbreaking free jazz and other adventurous musicians such as Albert Ayler, Ornette Coleman and Bill Frisell. They’re joined by drummer Neil Chastain, trumpet player Don Volenik, bassist Rick Kodramaz and harpist Stephen Haluska.

Tickets are $12.
