Play Based on Graphic Novel “Bluesman” Takes the Stage @ Breen Center

Fri 11/29 @ 7PM

Sat 11/30 @ 2PM & 7PM

The graphic novel Bluesman, by writer Rob Vollmar and artists Pablo G. Callejo, tells the story of itinerant bluesman, Lem Taylor and Irowood Malcott, in Depression-era Arkansas. Although they are fictional, the story of their hard-luck journey through lowdown juke joints incorporates the experiences of many real black blues musicians of the era.

Cleveland playwright Michael Oatman has adapted the story for the stage, and that staging has its world premiere this weekend at the Breen Center in Ohio City, directed by another local playwright, Eric Schmiedl.

The three performances are free.
