The Philippe Lemm Trio, led by drummer Lemm, came together in New York City eight years ago. The three musicians found a common cause in transforming jazz standards into something new through their own re-arrangments, which draw from a variety of sources including traditional jazz, progressive rock and classical music.
Since then, the group, which also includes pianist Angelo Di Loreto and bassist Jeff Koch, has toured Europe and played many major festivals. They’re on tour now sharing the music from their latest album City Birds, released late last year. They’ll be the BOP STOP Thu 11/21 and at Nighttown on Sun 11/24. Tickets are $15 at the BOP STOP and $20 at Nighttown.
