NY’s Golden Gays Do Their “Golden Girls”-Themed Holiday Show at the Music Box

Mon 12/2 @ 7:30PM

Drag queens as the characters from the long-running popular TV show Golden Girls? Oh, why not? There are few areas of popular culture that drag artists haven’t adopted as their own. And New York’s Golden Gays — Jason B. Schmidt as Dorothy, Andy Crosten as Blanche and Gerry Mastrolia as Rose and musical director Mason Griffin — have used some of the show’s most memorable moments as the basis for their dancing and live singing comic routines. The group, formed in 2017, took off from RuPaul’s DragCon to mount successful tours, cruises and Off-Broadway shows.

The little troupe is out on the road right now with their show “Thank Yule for Being a Friend,” with a wild and crazy storyline than even incorporates some of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. It stops at the Music Box this week. Premium tickets are $35 and include front center seating “cute artist swag” and a photo with the group after the show. The pre-show super VIP Laszlo Experience is $45 and includes all of that plus a green room visit before the show to enjoy a champagne sip and snack with the cast. General admission is $25.
