More Than 40 Eateries Take Part in Second End Hunger in Lakewood

Sat 11/16

Last year, Matt Fish, founder/owner of the Melt Bar and Grilled restaurants, organized an event called End Hunger in Lakewood, benefiting the city where the flagship Melt is located.

“We had an exceptionally successful first event last November with 34 restaurants and food retailers participating,” he says. “Donating 10% of food sales on a Saturday is not a small gesture. This year 43 establishments responded immediately to my request to participate. This outpouring of support for needy Lakewood residents speaks to the generosity of my colleagues here in town.”

Because of the success, which raised $11,000 last year, the event is returning for a second year. Proceeds are again going to Lakewood Community Services Center to provide fresh fruits and vegetables to center clients and in deliveries to needy seniors in subsidized housing, to supplement the nonperishable items the provide.

As you can imagine, since it’s Lakewood, the list of participants is diverse. You can help out by patronizing coffeeshops, bakeries, wine bars and breweries, by eating Italian and Asian and Mexican and vegan food, and even buying chocolate. Find the list of participants here.
