Look at the Moon from Difference Perspectives at the Akron Art Museum

Thu 11/14 @ 6:30-7:30PM

The Akron Art Museum’s recently opened exhibit, The Distance of the Moon, explores the hold the moon has had on people’s imaginations over the centuries, looking at both its romantic and scientific associations. It comprises photography and film/video-based images, ranging from the artistic and reflective, such as Georges Méliès 1902 Le voyage dans la lune and Robert Longo’s 20076 Untitled (Moon in Shadow), to work that draws on images of actual moon voyages. It even includes a small ceramic tile with images of work by six artists, which was snuck onto the lander and traveled to the moon this year.

The show runs through March 15, 2020 in the Fred and Laura Ruth Bidwell Gallery. Come see the show with a knowledgable guide when Jade Dellinger, director of the Bob Rauschenberg Gallery at Florida Southwestern State College, leads an art talk and tour of the show. It’s free and open to the public, but registration is required. Go here.
