Hickory Hideout was a popular children’s TV show, filmed in Cleveland and syndicated nationally from 1981-1991. People such as hosts Cassie Wolfe and Wayne Turney, puppets such as Nutso and Shirley and characters such as Buzz Buzzsaw Cecelia C. Seesaw, became beloved friends to many small viewers. Like the better-known Mr. Rogers Neighborhood the show gently addressed difficult issues kids may face. WKYC TV 3, which originally aired the show, is now streaming for original fans who may want to share the show with their kids.
The Music Box Supper Club’s next Cleveland Stories program features a reunion of the Hickory Hideout Cast & Crew, who will share backstage stories from the show.
Doors open at 5pm for dinner; program starts at 7pm. There’s a three-course fixed-price $20 meal featuring pierogi soup, chicken paprikash and napoleons. The program is free; dinner reservations are required.
