Foghorn Stringband Brings Traditional Music to G.A.R. Hall

Sun 11/17 @ 7PM

The Foghorn Stringband brings together four individuals from four far-flung parts of North America: rural Washington state, an island off the Pacific Northwest Coast, the isolated Gaspe Peninsula in rural Quebec, and the sophisticated metropolis of Minneapolis.

Now based in Portland, Oregon, the current iteration of the nearly 20-year-old ensemble features founding members Caleb Lauder on mandolin and harmony vocals and Steven Lind on fiddle, banjo and harmony vocals, along with more recent additions Nadine Landry on vocals and upright bass and Reeb Wills on vocals and guitar. Their string band music draws on bluegrass, country, old-time and Cajun traditions, weaving together strands of rural roots music from their diverse traditions.

They’ll be performing at Peninsula’s G.A.R. in a sure-to-be-lively show with Nashville’s Miss Tess and the Talkbacks opening, with their amalgam of blues, country and jazz.

Tickets are $24 in advance, $28 day of show.
