Cleveland’s “Queen of Indie Soul” Does Two Shows at Nighttown

Sat 11/30 @ 7:30PM @ 10PM

While Conya Doss may not have broken into the big leagues, the so-called “Queen of Indie Soul” has done well for herself, musically speaking.

The Cleveland School of the Arts alumna released her debut album A Poem About Ms. Doss back in 2002, inspired by her work as a Cleveland public school teacher. Since then, despite her other work and becoming a mother, she’s kept up with her music adding an addition seven albums to her catalog including last year’s Clear. She once again demonstrates her wide range of influences and expansive musicality that encompasses jazz, pop, funk, R&B, both traditional and neo-soul and even a hint of disco.

Since she fits in shows around her other obligations, there aren’t that many chances to here her live. So don’t miss her when she does two shows at Nighttown this week, backed by a band of northeast Ohio musicians.

Tickets are $30.
