Capitol Theatre hosts Film & Stand-Up Comedy By/About Wounded Vets

Joe Kashnow

Sun 11/17 @ 7PM

The Capitol Theatre in Gordon Square presents an evening called “Skippy and the Comedy Warrior”, which includes a film, but isn’t just a film screening.

The 2013 movie Comedy Warriors: Healing Through Humor provides the theme for the event. In it, five severely wounded soldiers who fought in Iraq or Afghanistan were given the chance to work with professional comedy writers to explore their experiences through humor and develop personal stand-up routines.

One of the five “comedy warriors” in the film was Joe Kashnow, who was injured by a roadside bomb in Iraq resulting in the amputation of one leg above the knee. Always known for his sense of humor, he’s turned it into a thriving career on the comedy club circuit as well as motivational speaking. Kashnow will do a live comedy set before the film, as will Mark “Skippy” Price from Family Ties.

Tickets are $25, veterans active-duty personnel are free with military ID.
