Three Veteran Musicians Share Their Original Songs at J. Pistone in Shaker Heights

Bob Frank

Thu 10/17 @ 6-7:30PM

Busy local songwriter/musician Rick Szekelyi hosts a monthly “Songwriters Block” at J. Pistone’s in Shaker Heights. Each one consists of three songwriters playing their own tunes in a round-robin setup.

This month he’s invited two Shaker Heights High School grads to join him, both well known for their decades of experience in the local music scene. Dave Smeltz founded reggae band I-Tal, the first Cleveland band to cross reggae over to a white rock audience in the late 70s and jumpstart the local reggae scene. He now plays with his Dave Smeltz Band and promotes his Clean House sober living project. Bob Frank has performed with jump blues/R&B/early rock band Blue Lunch for 25 years, and before that was a long time member of the Hotfoot Quartet. He also released a solo album last year.

Admission is free; food, beer and wine are available for purchase.
