PHOTOSTREAM: Ingenuity Festival by Anastasia Pantsios

09-27-29.2019 Ingenuity Fest

Fri 9/27-Sun 9/29

Three days wasn’t enough time to explore the entire Ingenuity Festival, now in its 16th year, and permanently ensconced in the sprawling Hamilton Collaborative Complex where year-round workshops allow for even more expansive creativity.

The theme this year was Dreamscapes, and there were certainly plenty of those, depending on your definition. There were installations tucked in unexpected corners, a giant ship in vast main warehouse adjacent to an aerial stage and the Tesla Orchestra’s lighted coils, now a regular feature of the event. There were shops and vendors, a makers’ alley where virtually every exhibit had something you could do, giant beds to lie on, art to look at and art to make, fire sculptures and fire jugglers, costumes to try on, and performers of every stripe: musicians, puppeteers, drag artists, burlesque queens, storytellers.

A few showers of Saturday and Sunday afternoon didn’t seem to dampen the crowd’s enthusiasm as people flocked to the indoor exhibits until the rain blew over.
