Market After Dark at West Side Market Raises Money to Feed Hungry Cleveland’s

Thu 10/24 @ 5:30-9:30PM

The 100-plus-year-old West Side Market is one of Cleveland’s distinctive treasures, with nothing quite like it anywhere in the U.S. Once filled with babushka-sporting eastern European housewives, these days the diverse vendor offerings attract everyone from women in saris to young men sporting Puerto Rico flag T-shirts to families speaking Nepali, all shopping for ingredients to create their particular cuisines.

Sadly, Cleveland also has a lot of people who don’t have the luxury of shopping there. The Hunger Network Food Rescue steps into the breech, retrieving some of the food wasted (estimated to be as much as 40% of the food we grow and/or purchase) to feed hungry people in Cleveland.

Market After Dark, taking place on one of the market’s dark days after its normal hours, allows those who can afford it to help those who can’t, with all proceeds going to the Hunger Network Food Rescue. Thirty-five area restaurants and breweries will be offering food and craft beers of all types, along with chef demos by Matt Fish of Melt Bar and Grilled, Annie’s Signature Sweets, Feel Good Dough and Eric Wells of Skye LaRae’s Culinary Services. Fill in your passport (hopefully this doesn’t mean you have to try ALL of them!) and be entered to win a raffle prize. There’ll be live music too. A $75 ticket gets you unlimited food tastings plus five wine or beer tastings. Go here to purchase.
