Magical Theatre Company Mounts Beloved Children’s Story “Harriet the Spy”

Fri 10/18-Sun 10/27

The children’s book, Harriet the Spy by Louise Fitzhugh, published in 1964, remains a favorite of kids today because it feels timeless. Even though her background is depicted as an obviously affluent family in Manhattan (she has a nanny and attends a private school), her interests, personality and the situations she gets herself into could be those of any kid anywhere in the U.S. She’s a curious tomboy, who loves to spy on neighbors and write down her observations in her notebook, and her candid comments cause a lot of grief when her classmates find her notebook.

Summit County’s Magical Theatre Company is putting on the stage version of the book to open its 2019-2020. The play draws on a cast of both adult and child actors, including Mallory Dannemiller of Doylestown in the title role.

The play runs Fri 10/18 and Fri 10/25 @ 7:30pm and Sat 10/19, Sun 10/20, Sat 10/26 and Sun 10/27 @ 2pm. Tickets are $15 & $17; opening night tickets are $17 & $19.
