The Jerusalem String Quartet made its debut in 1996, featuring four Israeli musicians, three of whom are still in the ensemble today. Original members — cellist Kyril Zlotnikov, and violinists Alexander Pavlovsky and Sergei Besler — were joined by Ori Kam when their previous viola player joined the Berlin Philharmonic in 2010.

The group, which tours extensively in Europe, American and Asia, has become know for its balanced sound blend and for its wide-ranging repertoire. They’ll range over a couple of centuries in the program for the Cleveland Chamber Music Society. It features Mozart’s String Quartet in D minor, composed in 1783; Eric Wolfgang Korngold’s String Quartet No 2. in E-flat minor, composed in 1933; and Dmitri Shostakovich’s String Quartet No. 9 in E-flat major, composed in 1964.

The concert takes place at Plymouth Church UCC in Shaker Heights, and it’s preceded at 6:30pm by a pre-concert interview with Ideastream’s Eric Kisch.

Tickets are $35, $30 for seniors, $5 for full-time students and those 18 and under.
