Hike Big Creek’s Oxbow Area and Learn About Restoration Plans

Sun 10/27 @ 1PM

Often some of the loveliest days of the year in Northeast Ohio come in October, with the temperatures just brisk enough to be comfortable and the sun burnishing the red and gold autumn leaves.

It’s a wonderful time to be outdoors and a great time for a hike. Join Big Creek Connects, Brooklyn’s Laurel Garden Club and Cleveland Museum of Natural History naturalist Garrett Ormiston for a walk through Brooklyn’s “Oxbow.” Ormiston will share information about the native plants growing in the area, which includes forest and a wetland habitat in an abandoned streambed. You’ll also hear about the plans to restore, conserve and improve the area.

Meet in the Brooklyn Fire Station’s Community Room (8400 Memphis Avenue). Wear sturdy shoes and warm clothes and be warned: the trail is muddy. There’ll be a light lunch before heading out and Halloween treats when the hike returns at 3pm. It’s free but registration is requested so they can plan for the food. Go here.
