Cleveland Guitar Trio Mixes Jazz, Folk, Pop and Classical at Three Local Shows

Fri 10/18 @ 8PM

Sat 10/19 @ 8PM

Sun 10/20 @ 7PM

The Cleveland Guitar Trio — formerly Guys With Guitars — features three musicians, each of whom has their own busy solo career. Doug Wood and Darren Frate are old mates, going back to the late 80s, when they played together in jazzy folk-rock group Watts Gnu. They’ve worked together in many other projects since then, most recently in Cellocentric, while doing their own things as well. In 2017, Wood released a new CD, The Road Home, and of course, Frate plays on it.

The third member is Patrick Woods, who is from north central Indiana. He specializes in prog rock-influenced instrumental fingerstyle guitar. He’s been performing more than a decade and has released several albums of his music.

The trio will be playing several local gigs, which will include solo turns by each member as well as ensemble works. As usual they’ll play their own jazz/folk/classical/pop compositions, studded with their own arrangements of songs by artists such as Simon & Garfunkel and the Beatles.

They’ll perform at Stocker Arts Center in Lorain as part of its Black Box series Fri 10/18 and Sat 10/19, and at Nighttown Sun 10/20. Tickets are $20 at the Stocker Center, $15 at Nighttown.
