Unitarian Universalist Congregation Hosts Discussion on the Impact of Guns

Sun 9/15 @ 9:30-10:45AM

The former First Unitarian Church of Cleveland, now the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Cleveland, located in Shaker Heights, is part of a denomination with such a strong record of activism that people have joked it’s less a church than a social action group.

This church is known for presenting Sunday morning community forums, open to the public, in which current hot-button issues are discussed. It opens the 2019-20 season with a broad focus on the issue of guns, looking not just at the mass shootings in the news, but also how the availability and proliferation of guns has increased urban violence and suicides.

There’ll be a presentation by Cleveland State University associate professor of urban studies Dr. Ronnie Dunn, and Case Western Reserve psychiatry professor and senior research associate at the CWRU Begun Center for violence. Rosie Craig of the League of Women Voters moderates. The presentation will be followed by a Q&A.

It’s free and open to all.
