Sat 9/7 @ 9:30AM-12:30PM
Doan Brook Watershed Partnership’s storm drain stenciling project is a low-stress, low-cost and fun way of engaging the community in helping to raise awareness of how easily our water sources can be polluted.
Volunteers stencil the message “Lake Erie Starts Here” on curbs along residential storm drains and distribute information about the signage to local residents. The message is intended to remind people that washing things like pet and yard waste, motor oil, fertilizers and pesticides into the storm drain sends them surging into the lake, where they can have bad impacts such as algae blooms.
The next morning of storm drain stenciling takes place in Shaker Heights. It starts at Thornton Park where volunteers will pick up stenciling supplies and get a quick lesson. Anyone can participate. Rain date is Sun 9/8, same time and place.
