Punk/Metal Bands Raise Awareness of Mental Health & Addiction at Speedbump Festival IV

Sat 10/5 @ 7PM

The annual Speedbump Festival, now in its fourth year, honors the memory of Garrett Janos, while promoting the local punk/metal scene and raising awareness of mental health and addiction.

The concert, taking place at Musica near downtown Akron, features bands from a multi-state area including Asheville, N.C.’s Autarch, Detroit hardcore thrash rockers S.N.A.F.U., Pittsburgh hardcore band Killer of Sheep, Toledo’s Trash Cat, Wadsworth-based Forced Happiness, and Akron’s Hiraeth and Pissmongrel, the latter playing their first show in five years.

There’ll be a raffle to benefit mental health and addiction services, with prizes donated by such location businesses as Square Records, Magic City Brewing, EarthQuaker Devices, Odd Fellows Tattoo and many more. There’ll also be a memorial table for Janos, a drummer who passed away in 2015 at age 25; people are invited to bring a photo of someone they miss who was lost to addiction to share. Information will be available from organizations that offer addiction and mental health services.

Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door.
