Kent International Festival Celebrates Many Cultures with Food & Performances

Sat 9/7 @ 11AM-4PM

While some people carry on like immigrants are the worst thing to every happen to the U.S., most of us have immigrant stories we can tell from our parents, grandparents or great grandparents or even have our own story.

Main Street Kent celebrates these stories at the International Festival, taking place in downtown Kent. It takes place following the Run the World 5K at Kent State University which raises money for the university’s study abroad programs.

The festival features music and dance performances from around the world and what’s described as “fun international photo props” in Dan Smith Community Park, the event’s hub. There visitors can purchase for a $5 passport, good for samples of ethnic food and drink at various downtown businesses which have chosen a certain country to represent, including China, Turkey, India, Germany, England and Italy. Wander around downtown and get your passport stamped; then return to Dan Smith Community Park where the first 125 people to present completed passports will win a prize.
