The Choir of Trinity College Cambridge is a mixed-voice choir, featuring nearly three dozen singers and a tradition that harks back to the 14th century. Of course, back then, all the voices were male; female voices were added only as recently as the 1980s. Since 2006, the ensemble has been led by Stephen Layton, an internationally noted director of choral music.
During the school term, the choir performs liturgy in the College Chapel. But it’s also garnering an international reputation through its many recordings and tours, which have taken it across Europe, to Peru, Japan, Hong Kong, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Canada and the U.S. Its latest tour brings it to Cleveland, where it will sing at Trinity Cathedral. A free-will offering will be taken.
