BlueWater Chamber Music Honors Jewish Influence in Music

Cleveland’s BlueWater Chamber Orchestra opens its 2019-2010 season in Beachwood at The Temple-Tifereth Israel.

The program, entitled “Meditations and Serenades,”celebrates the Jewish influence in classical music. It opens with 20th-century American composer Norman Dello Joio’s Pulitzer Prize-winning 1957 piece, Meditations on Ecclesiastes, featuring the synagogue’s canton Kathy Sebo. It’s followed by Canadian composer Sul Irving Glick’s 1996 The Klezmer’s Wedding with Kent State assistant professor of music Amitai Vardi, who is Israeli-American, on clarinet.

Finally the program concludes with Antonin Dvořák’s well-known 1875 Serenade for Strings.

Tickets are $23, $18 for seniors and $9 for students.
