moCa Cleveland Event Explores Intersection of Film and Hip Hop

Fri 8/30 @ 7-10PM

moCa Cleveland’s eCLEctic: Made You Look series, which spotlights artists, musicians and entrepreneurs in Cleveland’s hip-hop scene, is back.

The event will explore how film and video have influenced and been influenced by hip hop. There’ll be a panel discussion featuring Cleveland music video directors Santino Cash, Josh Teplitz and Scenematix. JD Caminero of Im From Cleveland moderates, followed by a multimedia performance by Case Bargé whose music focuses on “self-love, mental health, and the importance of positivity.”

Finally, there will be a conversation with director Steven Caple Jr., a Cleveland native who at age 31 has gone on to become a successful Hollywood TV and film director who recently directed Creed II with Michael B. Jordan and Sylvester Stallone. Cleveland filmmaker Blame Swoope will interview him about how he went from being a student at Baldwin-Wallace to earning a masters degree at the University of South California’s School of Cinematic Arts to directing a major feature film. There’ll be a Q&A following the discussion.

Tickets are $15 in advance, $25 at the door; $10 for students.
