What do you call someone who sets a house on fire and then rushes into the burning inferno and pretends to be putting out the flames so they can claim to be some kind of hero? A flat-out liar would be a good name to start with, and that’s what we currently have in the White House.
After tRump repeatedly — for month after month — sent out shrill dog whistles of hatred to white nationalists while fanning the flames of racist identity politics that eventually pushed borderline psychotic terrorists over the edge, driving them to act out their demented thoughts, he now wants to back away from taking the blame and responsibility for the predictable violent results of his ugly rhetoric.
Even when these mass murderers leave manifestos that directly quote vile language the president used — proving to any reasonable person that his comments are in part the impetus for the sick crimes — tRump still attempts to place the blame other than where it belongs: directly at his doorstep at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
In order to deflect criticism and avoid responsibility for his reckless actions, tRump has directed federal law enforcement officials to begin rounding up potentially violent white nationalists who have been making even small hints of planning or carrying out a terroristic attack. In this way he thinks that he can appear to be the solution to the problem of hateful killings, when actually he bears great responsibility for the cowardly killings.
His greatest fear at the moment is that another shooter is going to post yet another manifesto quoting his sick views after killing more innocent Americans. tRump doesn’t care about the Americans being killed; what he cares about is people placing the blame squarely where it belongs: on his shoulders.
The simple fact is, there are literally thousands of borderline gun nuts hiding in plain sight in this country and many of them are well known to the FBI, ATF and other national (as well as local) law enforcement agencies. Their addresses are known to government agents who also know exactly what kind of weapons they have in their basements. And they’ve known about these ticking time bombs for years, trust that.
However, as long as these overgrown juveniles were just running around the woods playing at being in a militia with other weak-minded crackpots, or marching through peaceful cities chanting vile slogans, the government tolerated their simple-minded actions. But now that tRump is pushing some of these unhinged bad actors over the edge into violence, there’s going to be hell to pay. Increasingly, these clowns are going to be receiving visits from the Feds, and they won’t be for friendly little chats.
Avowed white nationalist James Reardon, Jr. of Youngstown had a goofy smirk on his face as he was being arraigned for making terroristic threats against a Jewish community center last week. That smirk will last for about 12 to 18 months of the 10-year sentence he’ll probably receive as the Feds make an example out of him. Maybe tRump will give him a pardon since, after all, the president’s campaign of hatred is the reason Reardon felt he could get away with making such horrific threats.
