Jazz/Pop Vocalist Maria Jacobs Performs a Pair of Shows in Downtown Akron

Sat 8/24 @ 12:30-1PM

Thu 8/29 @ 8PM

Cleveland vocalist and songwriter Maria Jacobs teaches vocal jazz at Kent State University, and she’s well-qualified to do so. She’s been an active performer for decades who has seven albums under her belt, the latest, Hold On Your Heart, a two-disc compilation taken from her first six albums, with the title track a new tune. The album is split between her originals and her own arrangements of jazz and pop classics such as “My Favorite Things” and “Never Will I Marry.”

Jacobs will be performing at the High Street Hop House in downtown Akron Sat 8/24 as part of the Rubber City Jazz & Blues Festival. She’ll then be at Blu Jazz + in Akron on Thu 8/29, backed by top local jazz players, bassist Aidan Plank, pianist Rock Wehrmann and drummer Mark Gonder.
