Fun in the Sun

Enjoy the glorious weather.Because if you know our region, you know a change is coming.

The tomatoes are at their peak, and you can get a taste at Countryside, Howe Meadow and Northside markets this weekend. Then the teaching kitchen at the new Dave’s supermarket in Midtown offers free cooking classes to help you make healthy recipes from all that fresh food getting ripe in the sun. Once that sun sets, the outdoor courtyard at Worthington Yards is the site for CINE-EX, featuring animated and experimental short films, with a dance performance by Hope Schultz.

Change is good, just ask Pete & Debbie Gulyas, celebrating 10 happy years at Blue Arrow Records, helping to shepherd in the vinyl revival, while vinyl pressing plant Gotta Groove Records also turns 10. Tropidelic’s Freakstomp festival happens in a new location in Butler, Ohio, and Ingenuity’s Ignite! series offers tips for freelancers. Cedar Fairmount’s SummerFEST returns with even more opportunities for fun. The Opioid Awareness Music Festival launches in Kent, where Downtown Kent’s ice cream social is back for the 16th year, and you can revel in the night sky at Lake Metroparks Super Star Party.

The CoolCLE Show our weekly podcast, features an interview with Gretchen Dupps of Cleveland Angels, supporting foster parents and children, plus new music from Cleveland’s Ricky Ray Band and Blue Radio from Cuyahoga Falls. How much fun can you handle? –Thomas Mulready
